Esistono una serie di ricerche scientifiche che alla gente normale possono sembrare stupide e irrilevanti, vere e proprie inutilita' o addirittura sperpero di denaro (pubblico o meno).
Il post di oggi vuole rendere onore a queste ricerche, magari non saranno da premio nobel ma di sicuro rimangono un tassello importante della scienza e una fonte di sane risate (che non fanno mai male).

Per esempio cosa succede se si diluisce dell'alcool nella vasca di un pesce rosso? Si ubriaca come noi?

Forse non tutti sanno che nelle aringhe dell'Atlantico vi e' con tutta probabilita' un meccanismo di comunicazione all'interno del banco basato su suoni. Questi suoni sono dei ticchettii a banda larga (chirps in inglese, si potrebbe tradurre con cinguettii) caratteristici delle sole aringhe ed aumentano in frequenza all'aumentare della densita' del banco. Inoltre sono modulati in base a diverse situazioni in cui il banco si muove in coordinazione, per esempio per evitare un predatore. Questo ha portato gli scienziati ad identificarli come un elemento portante, assieme agli stimoli visual communication of "meaning of the bench."
